Every Monday Raymond Lee Jewelers will be presenting you with a new post regarding modern men’s jewelry. Last week, we took a sneak peak at the detailed the amazing new futuristic trends that are sweeping through the male cuff link market.
This week I wanted to focus on the money clip, which has gained a resurgence in popularity in the past couple years. The traditional money clip was invented in the early 1700′s as a response to England’s introduction of paper currency ten years earlier. Over the next quarter century paper currency would spread to other western civilizations and so would the need for a simple yet effective way to hold a stack of bills.
Today, we are seeing some of the top jewelry brands in the world creating money clips that are both visually and functionally stunning. The days of drab money clips with no artistic merit are long gone.

One brand that has really breathe new life into the modern money clip market is Coach. Coach has recently introduced a collection of money clips that are competitively priced and have an understated elegance. This new collection features nickel money clips with luxurious blue or silver leather inlays, signature Coach Cs with a smooth enamel finish or a chic plain clip that has the Coach logo and the company’s founding date.

Cartier Money CLip
Other jewelers have released exceptional pieces as well. Cartier has a beautiful palladium finished money clip with a black calfskin leather inlay. Gucci who has always been known for their leather have created guccissima leather money clip wallets in military green with military green leather trim and interior. Bvlgari and Tiffany & Co. have strayed away from leather and instead have focused on sterling silver.
