Kanye West is on fire with his latest album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”. His new music is sweeping the country and critics are calling this his best album yet.
Since Kanye has been in the news so much lately it reminded me of a GQ article I read last year. They have a a section in their magazine every once in a while where they ask a celebrity their 10 best fashion items. One that stood out for me was Kanye’s blacked out PVD coating Rolex Submariner.
In the preowned luxury watches business it is unusual to personalize a high end watch as most of the time it ruins the residual value of the timepiece. However, as a fashion item, the blacked out Rolex Submariner is actually selling for more than the regular version (even though the black coating is aftermarket).
Mr. West has his on a black military strap and the case is all black instead of the normal stainless steel color. It has a really hip look. Kanye said, “It looks hard—it looks really cool. It’s a new take on a classic watch.”
While personalizing a watch like this may ruin its value in the long run, the demand for black PVD coating on preowned luxury watches has never been higher. If you want to be fashion forward get yourself an all black preowned luxury watches.
